The Palmetto Beach Hut is the bigger sibling of the Magnolia Beach Hut. It keeps the same 30 foot width for narrow coastal lots and puts the extra room into the places you use most: a vaulted living and dining room, a kitchen with an eat-in island and a walk-in pantry, and a whole guest suite downstairs with its own kitchen, bath and patio door.
The back of the house is where it lives. A covered deck and an open deck share a two-sided outdoor fireplace, so one side is for dinner and the other for the end of the night, and a stair runs down to the patio at ground level. The primary suite opens onto that deck too, and its walk-in closet has a laundry drop straight through into the laundry room next door.
A guest suite on the ground floor: bedroom, kitchen and bar, bath and its own door to the patio. For guests, a grown child or a tenant.
A fireplace with two faces: it sits between the covered deck and the open one and warms both, which stretches deck season well into the cool months.
Vaulted living and dining: one tall room across the back of the house, with the kitchen island and pantry beside it.
A primary suite on the deck: vaulted, with a slider to the open deck, two sinks, a separate toilet room and a shower with a bench.
A laundry drop from the closet: clothes go from the primary walk-in closet straight through into the laundry room next door. A small thing, used every day.
