The Yellow House is 840 square feet with more personality than most houses twice the size: a built-in desk nook, an island you can eat at, arched doorways, cubbies at the entry and storage under the stairs.
The whole second floor is the bedroom, open, with dressing space, a walk-in closet that holds a stacked washer and dryer, and a full bath that can be drawn with one sink or two, a larger vanity or a pedestal tub. A powder room downstairs takes care of guests. Build it as your house, a vacation place or a guest cottage in the backyard.
A desk nook: a built-in desk on the main floor, a place to work without a room for it.
An island to eat at: the kitchen island has seating, so it is the table too.
Arched doorways: the arches give a small house a custom feel.
Cubbies and under-stair storage: a place for shoes and bags at the door and storage under the stairs.
An upstairs bedroom with a bath you can shape: the open second-floor bedroom has a dressing area, a walk-in closet with the washer and dryer in it, and a full bath drawn to take one sink or two, a wider vanity or a tub.
